After 2 weeks in Vermont, I headed to my next HelpX hosts home in Massachusetts. I again chose the scenic route. Since I had all day to drive only just over 2 hours, I decided to stop in a few of the small towns along the way. However, my car offered me a challenge.
I made my first stop in the quaint town of Walpole, NH. I started on a short walk and noticed that I parked in a 15 minute parking zone. When I tried to start the car to move to a better space though, it made that clicking noise to indicate a dead battery. This happened to me in April this past year too. I had to replace the Alternator and the Battery. After asking at a few shops about a mechanic or garage that might be open on Saturday, David, in the bakery/tea shop said he could give me a jump start if I had cables. Thank you Valerie for having car trouble in June; I kept the cables in my car! David and I got my car started within seconds. While I sat in my car confirming the route, thinking about my next steps with hood up and engine running, a woman tapped on the window to offer assistance. I had been in Walpole, NH less than 30 minutes, and 2 friendly folks offered to help me! GRATEFUL.
I decided to drive directly to my next host without stopping. I arrived 3 hours early.
Below is the route that I still enjoyed.
